Hey guys, Its been a while since i updated on my fishing status... Recently SH and I went went on a fishing trip to freshwater.. We bashed for abit then found a suitable spot to cast our lures.. There were some actions but it seems like the fish was in a stubborn mood or our lures just weren't appealing enough for them to take a bite. As the sides of the area may hold some surprises and the fishes at the open space aren't responding, we decided to just focus casting at the sides. Take! SH got a miss! Looks like our desicion was right. I was trying out the rubbers but to no avail... A bigger ripple surfaced just abit further by the sides. Excitedly, i searched through my lure bag to find something that could reach the distance.. Uh huh ! The ALIVE sasuke lookalike! Clipped on and sent it flying, twitched for 2 to 3 strokes and paused until it finally was in front. Whatever that was it didn't seem quite attracted to my lure.. Not giving up, i casted it out again, only this time i twitched more frantically akin to an escaping fish.. "Psshh!" A splash just around 2 Metres from me! A solid hook-up! It tried to pull my drag out but was only able to splash around the area. Slightly high drag was chosen because of threatening twigs and branches lying by the sides. Oh a hauran! Now the problem is how to land it as we were on higher ground. After some quick thinking, SH decided that the only option was i yank it higher for him to grab the leader...Sounds risky but its the only choice we got. 1, 2, 3, Success !! Photo - Taking ![]() ( Thanks SH! ) Lure/Rubber used : ALIVE! Sasuke imatiation Rod : G.Loomis2 6'feet Fast Action 6 - 10 lb Reel : Caldia Kix 2500 Line : Tuffline ( yellow ) 10lb Methods used: Frantic twitching, constant but slow retrieve Another more recent trip, I was dreaming of me catching a Big PB in a dream...Then i woke up.. Hmm still early and i got the urge to fish. This is a very last minute, out-of-the-blue, inspired-by-a-dream trip. Proceeded to spot after some time...Water was calm and serene...until the ripples start appearing, after all you at least want to see that something is around right? keke. Equiped myself with a halco roosta popper, the smaller one, and started popping lazily, still feeling sleepy.. A big ripple lurked behind my popper! Cast again... this time.. WHAM! A Snakehead ! I was awakened by the sound and my drag gave off that desperate tune.. Adjusted a few more clicks up as the water terrains are very threatening.. However as it dashed madly again..Suddenly my rod jerked back! I lost it! Feeling dazed, i checked what went wrong... !#!$@$#$ The snap opened!!!! Downcasted, i changed my snap, checked my leader and continued casting, rubbers this time. A slight tug was all i got after that. Changed to another spot thats nearby, and resumed my morning game. Spotted some structures and the devil dared me to cast. Not giving in, i did.. After about 3 casts, i had an instant take!! Again, my drag sounded off.. This time i was more careful, and this time the fish was also more co-operative. It didn't attempt to dash to the dangers but to the open waters. The fight felt different, I was very sure it wasn't a Snakehead and felt more like a Peacock Bass.. Dejavu prior to my dream? Alas, when it got closer, it was neither...A Sultan Fish! I was now more determined to land it. It still got the stamina to go a few more dashes and i was patient, waiting for it to feel abit more subdued before i bring it in. But fate has other plans for me, the fish decided to go to the right and got tangled with an underground branch which was not visible to the eye. SHIT! I was definitely not going to miss a second fish! I tried reeling in abit and the branched moved slightly. Fortunately, the fish was either worned out or decided to take a rest as it wasn't moving much.. However, i was sure it was only a matter of seconds before it changes its mind. As i was wearing rubber boots, i then got down the water and pulled the branch. It got out after some pulling but my line was still tangled in it. Using my rod to carefully manuver and control the line, i managed to sort out the tangled line. Seizing my lip grip, i hurriedly gripped the fish in one swift moment. ( Thanks Alan for the modified grip !! ) ![]() ( 1 for the record books! ) Hehehe .. the motto of this CR is when you dream you kenna fish, go fishing =x Lure/Rubber used : Still Hunt ( black ) 5 Inch Rod : G.Loomis2 6'feet Fast Action 6 - 10 lb Reel : Caldia Kix 2500 Line : Tuffline ( yellow ) 10lb Methods used: Slight twitch and jerk, constant, normal speed retrieve
